Carissa has been snatched and held for ransom. She has been tied to a chair with plenty of rope, with her arms secured behind a pole to stop her scooting the chair along the floor and trying to escape. After a few minutes, her captor brings her a phone and removes her gag in order to provide proof of life, then he immediately gags her again. The tells Carissa's husband that he has six hours to get the money together and drop it at the assigned place, otherwise he will be getting his wife back in pieces. When he has finished his phone call, he decides that Carissa needs a better gag and again pulls the cleave gag from her mouth. He stands before her with a roll of surgical tape, but unfortunately there are only a few inches of tape left. He he sticks it over Carissa's mouth anyway and goes off to get a roll of duct tape which he wraps around her head as well as the pole, rendering her head motionless, at the same time reinforcing her gag so that she cannot speak at all. He leaves the dingy garage and Carissa is left to sit there and wait all alone, tightly tied up and thoroughly gagged with no chance of escape.
